A number of processes in this type of industry include aqueous or chemical suspensions, where concentration (solids%) is critical management parameter. This applies to both iron alloys and minerals such as lime, titanium dioxide, as well as clay and cement.

In dry processes, the process often involves significant dust deposits, leading to disturbances on installed in-situ measuring instruments. Here, radiometric clamp-on instruments represent a great advantage, both functionally and safety-wise.
